Editorial Process
Every article published on StoryShift.uk is reviewed by a human editor before it appears on the site. This review covers factual accuracy, clarity, sourcing, and compliance with our ethical guidelines. Our editorial team follows a structured production workflow: writers submit drafts, editors review and query content, and the editor-in-chief or a designated senior editor approves final publication.
For sensitive topics—including but not limited to criminal justice, national security, vulnerable individuals, public health controversies, and political disputes—additional layers of review apply. The Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Kristjan Sepp, or a designated fact-checker examines sources, verifies claims against primary records, and may request further documentation before publication. No article on a sensitive subject is published without this extra check.
Independence
Editorial decisions at StoryShift.uk are made independently of commercial, political, or external influence. Our funding comes from advertising, commercial partnerships, and clearly labelled sponsored content. Sponsored content is always marked as such, and no commercial partner has any role in shaping editorial coverage. Accuracy and Sourcing Standards
We rely on primary sources wherever possible: official records, public data sets, court documents, parliamentary reports, academic studies, and direct interviews with named individuals. Anonymous sources are used only in exceptional circumstances, where the information is of clear public interest and the source’s identity must be protected for legitimate safety or professional reasons. In such cases, the reason for anonymity is explained in the article.

Attribution and Author Accountability
All editorial content on StoryShift.uk carries the name of the writer or writers responsible. We believe that accountability requires named authors. Each writer’s role and contact details are listed on our Our Team page. Authors are responsible for the accuracy and fairness of their work, subject to editorial oversight. If a correction or clarification is required, the author is involved in the review process.
Update Dates Policy
Every article displays its original publication date. When content is materially changed after publication—for example, to correct an error, add significant new information, or update a developing story—a “last updated” date is appended. Minor edits, such as typographical corrections or formatting adjustments, do not trigger a new date. If an article is substantially revised, we note the nature of the change at the top of the page.
Review Process for Specialist Topics
Articles covering policy, health, education, finance, or legal matters undergo additional review. Writers and editors with relevant expertise or experience are assigned to these topics. Where appropriate, we consult external experts or cross-check with authoritative sources such as government publications, regulatory guidance, or peer-reviewed research. No article in these categories is published without sign-off from an editor who has verified the specialist claims.
AI and Automation Disclosure
StoryShift.uk may use digital tools to support research, editing, formatting, and content review. These tools are assistive: they may help identify relevant sources, suggest phrasing, or check consistency. All published editorial content is reviewed by a human editor before publication. Automated systems never make editorial decisions or approve final content. This disclosure applies to all editorial output on the site.
