About Us

Who we are and our mission

StoryShift.uk is an independent editorial platform covering UK public debate, culture, media, politics, working life, technology and current affairs. We combine deep knowledge of British institutions and society with a European publishing perspective, offering readers a view of how social change, politics, culture and digital trends affect people, businesses and institutions in the United Kingdom.

Our mission is straightforward: to provide clear, fact-based reporting and analysis that helps our audience understand the forces shaping modern Britain. We are not aligned with any political party or commercial interest. Editorial decisions are made independently, and all content – including sponsored material – is clearly labelled. Our funding comes from advertising, commercial partnerships and clearly marked sponsored content; no external influence affects our editorial judgements.

What we cover and for whom

StoryShift.uk covers the subjects that matter to a UK audience: national and local politics, media and broadcasting, cultural trends, the future of work, technology regulation, digital platforms, public services, civil society and policy debates. Our readers include professionals, academics, policy-makers and engaged citizens who want sober, well-sourced journalism that connects British stories to wider European and global contexts.

We publish primarily for readers in the United Kingdom. Although our operating company is registered in Estonia, our editorial coverage is focused on UK audiences and UK-related subjects. For editorial queries specific to the UK market, contact ukdesk@storyshift.uk.

How we work

Every piece of editorial content published on StoryShift.uk is reviewed by a human editor before publication. Digital tools may support research, editing, formatting and content review, but final editorial responsibility rests with a named editor. For sensitive or potentially contentious topics, our team applies additional fact-checking and source-verification steps before sign-off. Full details of our editorial standards and correction procedures can be found in our Editorial Policy and Fact-Checking Policy.

Our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Kristjan Sepp, oversees source verification, corrections processes and transparency routines. All published content is subject to our corrections policy, which you can read at Corrections Policy.

Who is responsible

Maarika Tamm is the Editor-in-Chief and Responsible Publisher for the UK market. She holds overall editorial responsibility: publication decisions, editorial policy, source review, corrections, ethical guidelines, transparency routines and quality assurance. She can be reached at maarika.tamm@storyshift.uk or via the UK editorial line +44 20 4583 7711.

The editorial team is led day-to-day by Oliver Grant, UK Managing Editor, who oversees daily planning, news prioritisation, publishing schedules and coordination between writers, editors and researchers. For more details about every member of our editorial and standards team, see our Our Team page.
