StoryShift.uk was founded by Nordbridge Media OU to address a specific gap in the UK media landscape: the absence of a dedicated editorial platform that combines deep British subject expertise with a European publishing perspective on culture, media, politics and technology. While many outlets cover UK affairs from within the domestic bubble, and others report on Europe from a distance, few attempt to bridge the two with the rigour and independence we believe is necessary.
The decision to establish the company in Estonia, with a focused editorial operation serving UK readers, reflects a deliberate choice. It allows us to operate within a stable European regulatory framework while maintaining editorial independence from the political and commercial pressures that often shape UK-based media. Our registered address is Maakri 19/1, 12th Floor, 10145 Tallinn, Estonia, but our editorial centre of gravity is firmly in the United Kingdom.
Our editorial philosophy
Under the leadership of Editor-in-Chief and Responsible Publisher Maarika Tamm, StoryShift.uk operates on a clear principle: editorial decisions are made independently, based on evidence, context and a commitment to public understanding. We do not chase clicks, amplify outrage or prioritise speed over accuracy. Our coverage of UK public debate, culture, media, politics, working life, technology and current affairs is guided by a European perspective that values institutional accountability, social cohesion and informed civic discourse.
Maarika Tamm holds overall editorial responsibility for the UK market, including publication decisions, editorial policy, source review, corrections, ethical guidelines, transparency routines and quality assurance. Every piece of editorial content is reviewed by a human editor before publication. Digital tools may support research, editing, formatting and content review, but no automated system makes final editorial decisions.
How our desk structure works
Our editorial team is organised by subject area to ensure depth and consistency. Oliver Grant, UK Managing Editor, oversees daily editorial planning, news prioritisation, the publishing schedule and article production. Emily Carter, Culture & Media Editor, covers British culture, media, streaming, entertainment, public service broadcasting, digital platforms and the changing UK media landscape. James Whitmore, Politics & Society Correspondent, reports on British politics, social affairs, public institutions, civil society, policy debate and social change. Laura Bennett, Technology & Work Trends Editor, focuses on technology trends, working life, digitalisation, AI, startup environments, the platform economy and how new technology affects UK businesses and consumers. Kristjan Sepp, Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, manages fact-checking, source verification, corrections processes, editorial standards, transparency and review of sensitive content.

What readers can expect
Readers of StoryShift.uk can expect original reporting, analysis and commentary that is serious, concrete and trustworthy. We cover UK affairs with a European lens, meaning we situate British developments within broader continental trends in social change, politics, culture and digital transformation. We do not assume prior knowledge, but we do not patronise our audience. Our tone is direct, factual and free of marketing fluff. We publish corrections promptly and transparently, as outlined in our corrections policy and fact-checking policy.
How we are funded
StoryShift.uk is funded through advertising, commercial partnerships and clearly labelled sponsored content. Editorial decisions are made independently; commercial partners never influence coverage unless content is clearly marked as sponsored. We are committed to full transparency about our ownership and funding. For a detailed breakdown, see our ownership and funding page.
